Whenever I'm invited to give talks about leadership and management or facilitate workshops for team buildings - whether for students or business organizations - I would always highlight the topic of MANAGING EXPECTATIONS.
Leading.. Managing.. Forming Teams.. - they are all about relationships!
And the key ingredient to ALL successful relationships is clarifying expectations from time to time. Failure to do this usually leads to a lot of complications.
You ask what is expected of you and then you tell the other party your expectations as well. And once you've leveled all expectations to absolute reality, you work on those expections to grow.
This actually applies to all relationships: husbands and wives, parents and children, leaders and members, bosses and subordinates, teachers and students, celebrities and fans, brands and PRs, PRs and media people, friends, colleagues, etc.
