DANTE'S PEAK vs VOLCANO 1997
Two disaster films made in 1997 inspired by the Mount Pinatubo eruption of 1991. The more serious Dante's Peak which stars Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton is by far better produced and offers amazing visual effects compared to Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche's Volcano. However, the latter does offer more fun, excitement and everything that's so 90s in America. It also talked about racism, gender equality and being globally responsible.
I did love the last part when one little boy looks into the crowd of people, all covered in gray volcanic ash.
“Look at their faces,” the child says. “They all look the same.”
DANTE'S PEAK 3/5
