It gave responsible people more power to push for their causes. I used to work in a group that aims to spread environmental awareness and prevent drug abuse. Life before SocMed was difficult when it comes to disseminating important information. Magastos at kailangan mo ng maraming gimmick just to attract your target audience to listen to what you have to say. It's so much easier now.
On the downside, Social Media also empowered IDIOTS. In fact, the online world is closed to being overrun by STUPID, RUTHLESS people and OVERLY SENSITIVE and amazingly IRRATIONAL pricks with cellphone loads and data.
I can give you a lot of examples, latest would be those stupid people on twitter who criticize a medical photo post as being sexist for tagging a little girl as a "Nurse in Training" and a young boy as a "Doctor in Training". What is the problem here? Kailangan ba lahat na lang idetalye sa isang photo? Pag pinagpalit mo ang tag magreklamo naman ang mga lalaki? Bakit pareho puti yun bata walang Black o Asian - racist? Bakit walang representative sa photo ang LGBT? Bakit bata? - child abuse issue naman? Kailangan ba photo album na lang yun pinost na may iba't-ibang tags?
SENSITIVE MUCH? Puro MEMA!
Napaka-ENGOT ng napakaraming tao sa Social Media. Ang daming matatalinong TANGA na nabigyan ng boses sa mundo ngayon, pagbibigyan nga ng jacket ang mga yan! STRAITJACKET!
REMEMBER: Hindi po lahat ng maingay may sinasabi. Yun iba pollution lang.
